Criminal Child Abuse
Definition:
Child abuse is the negative treatment of a child under the age of 18 by a parent, caretaker, someone living in their home or someone who works with or around children. Child abuse is anything that causes injury or puts the child in danger of physical injury. Child abuse can be physical, sexual or emotional.
Consequences of Child Abuse:
Being charged with child abuse is a big deal. Society in general looks down on people who abuse children and the court system is the same way. The court does not take any consideration for child abusers, and will lay down the law as harshly as possible. If you are convicted of child abuse you can be looking at many years in prison. Even if you were not committing the child abuse, but simply allowing the child abuse to occur, you can be charged with child abuse.
Even the process of investigation into Child Abuse can cause you to be listed on the CACI (Child Abuse Central Index).
