Definition:

Perjury, also known as lying under oath, is corruptly taking a false oath during a judicial proceeding. A person who commits perjury takes an oath to tell the truth but willfully and deliberately lies in a courtroom proceeding. The false statement(s) can affect the outcome of the case. Perjury is a very serious crime and is difficult to prove.
