Surgeons quite literally hold the lives of their patients in their hands. This is true perhaps for all medical professionals, but especially neurosurgeons, as any minor flaw in a brain or spinal cord procedure could result in paralysis or death. Doctors, like all human beings, aren't perfect, but when surgical mistakes are assumed to be a result of carelessness, they will more than likely be hearing from quite a few personal injury attorneys.
Despite operating as a neurosurgeon at Community Memorial Hospital in Ventura, California, for just 17 months, Dr. Aria Omar Sabit is facing at least 16 lawsuits from former patients that are blaming him for alleged "misplaced screws in spinal fusions, post-operation infections and botched brain surgery," according the Ventura County Star.
Though Sabit told the news source that the allegations were "absolutely false," one lawyer that represents six of the patients filing suits against the doctor explained that the number of cases is out of the ordinary.
"It's incredible – just that there are so many people who have had so many similar issues arise with their injuries," Oxnard attorney Marc Anderson told the media outlet. "He made a lot of people mad because he was sold to everyone as this kind of wonder kid. Now all these people are seeing each other at physical therapy, and they're kind of sharing notes."
California residents that feel as though their doctors have made a mistake that has debilitated them, prevented them from working or required extra medical attention to correct should find a personal injury attorney through a lawyer referral service. With experienced legal assistance, Californians can seek compensation for the required expenses they had to pay as a result of a surgeon's gaffe.
Attorney Search Network is a California state bar certified legal referral service that helps clients find an attorney for nearly any type of case, whether they require a family lawyer, bankruptcy attorney, estate planning attorney or criminal lawyer.
